All was as expected, but the shipping on a $45 item, a small textile, could have been done for no more that $10.00 in a standard manilla sized envelope But instead they sent it in a HUGE box with bubble wrap and paper at over $40. I assume the auction house must use a service that just takes advantage of them/the customer. And at that point, I suppose the auction company doesn't care either. Moral of the story: You are at their mercy for shipping costs. Prepare to pay more than reasonable.

Your site states that Artemis accepts American Express cards. Officially, they did not. Had to call them and they then did honor and accept.

I have been very impressed with the personal touch and easy communication with their employees. I always know if I place an order with them, I will receive a certificate of authenticity. And if I have any questions, this gallery is always available to help me to the best of their ability.

Every person at Artemis that I have had conversation has always been very professional and polite and given answers to all my questions.

Artemis Gallery are very professional and well organized

The wooden figure I bought had a hole in the top of the head which was not shown in any of the photos or mentioned in the description or condition report. I feel a bit deceived by this as damages influence the price greatly. The piece was rather cheap so it is not a lot of money lost and I still like the piece but would hope for more accurate photos and descriptions in future.

Artemis Gallery renewed my faith in online auctions. In the past, I felt ripped off by shipping charges and stopped buying for years. Artemis was wonderful to do business with in every way. I purchased from them again today and will remain a loyal client.

Artemis Gallery has always done an excellent job of presenting the items in a very easy to access format. They have always responded to email inquiries in a very supportive manner. They even occasionally offer short on-line videos to help their clients learn useful tips about collecting and buying. I am completely satisfied with all the interactions I have had with them.

Shipping time rather extensive cost a little high

PayPal option for payment

Not with this auction house, but Eros Auctions never sent me the box and pouch for an expensive Tiffany necklace, despite promising to do so.

I think that there is a reason why this auction house is not a member of ADCEA, the US organization for reputable dealers! This site just churns pieces with little or no research so there appear to be fakes or incorrectly labeled pieces and condition reports must be requested and are not always accurate or are overly general. They also too often hide the prior ownership (and date of acquisition) which is very important in a field where it is illegal to export items from the Mediterranean area. (except for Israel) after 1970. I stopped dealing with this firm when the owner/auctioneer ignored their own bid requirement rules to nickel-dime buyers and got obnoxious on the phone when this was questioned. As a serious collector I am not bidding here again.

Artelis gallery is a very reliable seller. I keep participating in their auctions since many years because they have always answer queries and help solve any issues. I actually have had the opposite experience with a different seller: Quinn's Auction Galleries I bought a lot clearly described as ancient ("Costa Rica, Guana Caste/Nicoya, CE200-600) and had it tested it (thermoluminiscence) inmediately after reception). the result shows clearly taht it is a modern copy. I have tried to find a way to bring this to your attention but I did not find a clear way of doing it. I had some problems with the shipments when the pieces were shiped by the consignors and not by the auction house

Very professional operation. They ship very quickly and the items are packed safely. They also include a brief appraisal with the item. I wish all auction houses were like this one.
