Great Experiance all around

Hi, I am buying precolumbian items since years, by Artemis, and I am very happy with this. The only thing that might sometimes avoid me to buy Something is the "buyer's premium". 24, 5 % is a lot of money when the item is expensive... Have a good day.

Truly one of the best auction houses I've dealt with. Quality of images, descriptions, and shipping costs are 2nd to none. Very quick shipping and inclusion of COA.

Would like to see the auction item next to a familiar item to get a better sense of the actual size.

This is a great auction house for Greek and Roman antiquities. In the last year the scope and breadth of their offerings as well as the mechanics of their website have been exponentially enhanced. On top of that, they are nice, good people who really care about the objects they bring to sale. from their site. (They also feature extensive MesoAmerican and East Asian art (which I do not know anything about, but they carry quite a bit of it now.)

They should allow third party shipping as they ship in house and charge a high premium for packing and shipping.

The detailed descriptions, the accurate photographs, and the objects themselves are all excellent. The in-house shipping is super-they are experts at safely packing all the objects I've purchased. Most important, however, is that I trust the objects, particularly pre-Columbian works, are as they are described. I hesitate to bid on objects from other houses especially without any provenance provided. Artemis provides that history. I've not had to query them, but would imagine their response would be thoughtful and prompt. Five stars!

I have to settle a discrepancy before I can comment more. I’m curious as to the method for obtaining the timeframe for purchases item, as it seems there was a previous date that placed it in a new time. Have made attempts to reconcile and am in the beginning stages of working with my tribes historic preservation office to explore what I can do to get this figured out. Fascinating prehistoric piece regardless, however there could be obvious discrepancies with the value.. will be in contact soon.

They are very convenient for buyers, unlike most sellers who are in the dark ages.

The auction was extremely slow. I have also the idea that an extra bid was added to my bid, but got no response to that question. So bid 1 and bid two were both mine.

Artemis Gallery is without any doubt the best auction house I have dealt with in recent years.

Okay, the buyer's premium is too high.

Artemis does not have an 'in-house' expert on tribal art, but uses outside 'gallery owners' looking at a photo to determine 'use, age and authenticity'. This is IMPOSSIBLE!. Even holding the object is never perfect as the manufacturers (Africans in my case) know what a collector or dealer is looking for and enhances that factor. BTW Gallery Owners by and large downplay anything they do not own so they can 'look like experts' and sell their own overpriced pieces.
