Our 8/7 response to the bidder, for clarification that we are not promoting reproductions as antiques and we would have allowed a return had we'd been notified by the bidder in a timely manner; Replying to a Liveauctioneers 'survey would not notify the auction house of a problem with an item. I found out about this before your email today by reading your review. The item was catalogued as "Decorative" and "After" in both the title and description-both are acceptable terms in our industry when cataloguing copies or reproductions, such as "school of" or "circle of". Furthermore, the description states "Small ring tag states made in Italy on the case top ring." Additionally, images # 6 and # 12 clearly show the "Italy" tag. The case indeed has wear from age and use, it is not brand new. Had it been by Carpenter and "of the period" (which means antique, genuine, by the hand of, etc.), the estimate would have been higher and it would have sold for much more. The item is not grossly mis-represented; we did not say this is an antique. It is a decoration; I'm sorry you didn't understand this. I would have permitted a return/refund had you notified Neue Auctions before the consignors were paid, (thirty days after the auction). Please make sure to read the terms and conditions of sale of any auction house you may participate, make inquiries prior to bidding and contact the auction house immediately with any problems upon receiving your items. I wish your experience would have been better and hope you'll not let this lesson learned deter you from the joy of collecting.

Hi Connie, this was listed "as is with losses". Not some, and "as is". we always recommend carefully viewing the detailed images and phoning with any specific condition inquiries. For those who don't know the auction biz, as is means just that! And i thought you'd be happy with this bargain purchase!
