My only grief was seeing the extra charges detailed for service and payment by credit card, I know the fees generally get passed on to the consumer, but I'd have felt less pain to see them slipped in more gently. At least I am happy to get what I paid for.

I purchased a Rookwood vase. The description of the item was perfectly accurate and the transaction seems to have been handled well. The recommended shipping company was very expensive and rather slow, and the estimated arrival date was extended by two weeks as soon as they collected payment. I wouldn't hesitate to make another purchase from this auction house, but I would use a third party shipper in the future. Overall it was a very positive experience.

I've won several items from Toomey & Co., never had any serious issues. They curate real and quality antiques. They didn't quite accurately assess the Art Nouveau box I recently won (two missing screws, not disclosed), but overall OK.

The lot was accurately described. Delivery went smoothly with no unpleasant surprises when the item was uncrated. Auction house staff were helpful and responsive to emails/messages. I prefer local auctions to avoid shipping costs, but I would not hesitate to buy again from Toomey & Co. because I know that they're professionals and don't sell junk.
